Role Purpose
The Project Manager II serves as a key leader within the project team, partnering with field leadership, engineering, procurement, subcontractors, and clients to drive successful project outcomes. This position is expected to proactively manage project risks, monitor financial performance, administer contract requirements, and ensure compliance with Zone 4 project management standards.
Scope of Responsibility
- Leadership of medium to large automation and installation projects
- Ownership of project schedules, budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Management of customer relationships and project stakeholder communications
- Administration of contracts, change orders, and project documentation
- Coordination across engineering, procurement, field operations, vendors, and subcontractors
- Identification and mitigation of project risks and execution challenges
- Compliance with PMO standards, reporting requirements, and project controls
- Adherence to Zone 4 safety, quality, and operational standards
- Contribution to process improvement and project execution consistency

Core Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of assigned installation and automation projects
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and execution plans
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, field operations, vendors, and subcontractors
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary
- Ensure project deliverables meet contractual, quality, safety, and operational requirements
- Drive accountability across project teams to achieve project objectives
Financial & Commercial Management
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Monitor labor productivity, material expenditures, and project performance
- Support margin protection through proactive cost management
- Manage change orders and contract administration processes
- Assist in resolving commercial issues and contract-related concerns
- Provide accurate project forecasts and performance updates to leadership
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary project-level point of contact for customers
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships throughout project execution
- Communicate project status, risks, changes, and recovery plans proactively
- Facilitate project meetings, progress reviews, and stakeholder communications
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to achieve project objectives
Risk, Issue & Change Management
- Develop and maintain project risk registers and mitigation plans
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project, operational, commercial, and safety risks
- Manage change order documentation, approvals, and implementation
- Escalate significant project risks and business concerns appropriately
- Drive proactive problem solving to minimize project disruptions and delays
Technical & Operational Coordination
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, automation, and controls-related project scopes
- Review construction documents, specifications, RFIs, and project drawings
- Support constructability reviews and execution planning activities
- Collaborate with engineering and field teams to resolve technical challenges
- Ensure project activities align with Zone 4 standards and client requirements
Authority & Decision-Making
- Responsible for day-to-day project execution, customer communication, and financial performance of assigned projects
- Makes project-level decisions regarding scheduling, coordination, and resource utilization
- Executes change management processes within delegated authority limits
- Recommends corrective actions, recovery plans, and risk mitigation strategies
- Escalates commercial, contractual, and operational concerns requiring senior leadership involvement
Required Experience
- 3-7 years of project management experience in construction, automation, industrial installation, material handling, or related industries
- Experience managing project schedules, budgets, forecasting, and customer relationships
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, automation technologies, and construction documentation
- Experience coordinating cross-functional project teams
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software
